At SunState, we use state of the art fraud detection systems that may trigger calls to you to confirm transactions.  Transact ions may be denied  at  the point of sale ( in event of mis-matched information such as your phone number or address and we are unable to reach you, or if your card has been reported as compromised to us by Visa.) It is very important that  you regularly review  your transactions to assure no unauthorized items have been posted, and to notify the credit union to dispute such transactions to protect your rights under the consumer protection laws. If your check or credit card issued by SunState was reported to us by Visa as being compromised, to protect your account (and the credit union from fraud losses) the account number was blocked for transactions. While this creates an inconvenience, it enables us  to communicate with you concerning your account and make sure you have not lost funds due to the breach. Replacement cards are shipped as soon as is possible.  In this case , our staff provided some extraordinary services to those members who were traveling to assure they had access to their funds. While rumors abound during times such as these, we want to reassure you that SunState is very proactive in protecting accounts from the potential for fraud. We regularly update information on our Web site and provide links  to information issued by government agencies to assist those who may be the victim of identity theft.  You can help in this effort by using your card only at reputable businesses, protecting your card as you would your cash, and using the protections we provide such as Verified by Visa PINs for Internet purchases. We would like to be able to report that the worry is over and we can all return to pleasant  shopping without the stress of thieves lurking. Unfortunately, ID theft continues and the incidents of hackers and breaches continue to occur.  Therefore,  we encourage you to monitor your account using the Home$banking services and to promptly report to us any suspicious activity.  We will continue to strive to be your trusted financial partner with convenient services to enable you to have stress free banking. Thank you for your patience as we learn to deal with these events as they unfold. You are reminded if you were one of the accounts receiving replacement cards, to notify your bill payment servicers of your new card numbers so your transactions will properly clear.
