YMCA

McGurn YMCA is located in northeast Gainesville, FL. and serves many low income families. It's focus is on literacy and helping families learn how to just get by, as opposed to the sports focus of many YMCAs. This year due to economic issues, the local United Way cut its funding for some of their literacy programs. The facility also houses after school programs, summer day camp, and aquatics. The YMCA is dedicated to improving the spirit, mind and body of the community, including those who cannot afford its services. For those individuals and families, the YMCA calls on the community to help sponsor them.
