National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund
The National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund
(NCUSIF) is the insurance program that protects members' deposits
at SunState FCU. The NCUSIF is run by the National Credit Union
Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government. These
are the initials you see in SunState FCU lobbies, because every
federally insured credit union is required to display the official
NCUA symbol.
Capitalization of the NCUSIF by all federal credit
unions has resulted in an insurance fund that equals well more than
1.0% of all insured shares, resulting in a very sound fund. Every
cent of your savings (up to $100,000 shares, plus $100,000 in Individual
Retirement Accounts - IRAs) is backed by the more than $5 billion
(as of December 31, 2001) now in the fund.
Federal credit unions adjust their contributions
to the fund to reflect their total annual share account deposits.
So, how safe is your money? If it's in SunState FCU, it couldn't
be in a safer place.
